Jan-Niklas Häuslein is the Head of Social Media at SPORT1 — the leading multichannel sports platform in the German-speaking region. SPORT1 owns the rights to broadcast and promote multiple sports events, from the German Bundesliga, to the darts and ice hockey world championships, across its free and pay TV channels, OTT streaming channels, apps, websites, social media channels and podcasts.
As Head of Social Media, Niklas works in the SPORT1 newsroom. He is responsible for all social media platforms and activities, which currently cater to a combined total of roughly 7 million followers. His goal is to reach new audiences, grow the accounts, and build communities, by making the most of SPORT1’s broadcasting rights.
Before partnering with Content Stadium, Niklas and his team used Photoshop templates to create their social media and digital graphics.
“The problem with Photoshop is that you can freely move elements, so people could easily change the placement of shadows, the logo, etc. It was therefore a challenge to keep our corporate identity consistent every time. But having a professional and consistent representation of our brand was a priority for us.”
In addition, there are often new interns and colleagues joining the team, so to teach all of them how to work with Photoshop, as well as having to install new licenses on their computer each time, was not a quick process. Editing the designs was also very manual, which meant that creating content took time. For example, users had to manually cut out the background from photos of players, and they had to search different platforms for the latest stats and data, which they then manually added into their designs.
To enable Niklas and the rest of the SPORT1 newsroom (social media, video, TV and online teams), as well as the communications department, to create consistent content quickly, we custom-built a series of templates. Anyone in the team can access and edit the templates via our online Content Stadium platform, anywhere and via any device.
SPORT1’s template package consists of 9 flexible templates, in multiple sizes. The team can use the templates to produce graphics, videos and animations for topics such as quotes, facts, matchday announcements, programs, rankings, match lineups, results and more. The templates also include numerous features to speed up and simplify content creation, such as a tool that automatically removes the background from photos, as well as automated data import for results, player stats, rankings, programs and more.
Niklas’ most-used templates are SPORT1’s “multi-text” templates: “I especially like the flexibility of the multi-text templates. We use it for facts, quotes, news, or just to add branding to an image.” Watch how one of these multi-text templates works below:
The SPORT1 newsroom uses the templates to create graphics, videos and animations for multiple channels, including:

The SPORT1 newsroom team has been using their Content Stadium templates since 2020. In 2022, they renewed their package for 3 more years. Why are they still with us, and why did Niklas call Content Stadium “the most important tool we have right now for our day-to-day business”?
